Microneedling
Improve Skin Texture & Tone | Reduce Scarring | Minimize Wrinkles
What is microneedling?
Microneedling, also called Collagen Induction Therapy, is a treatment used to improve the skin’s texture and tone, reduce surface scarring and minimize the appearance of fine lines. Sixteen micro-surgical steel needles are used to create micro channels (microscopic holes) in the skin. Microneedling is ideal for individuals who have contraindications for heat-based laser treatments and individuals who want minimal downtime (no heats means faster recovery).
How does the DP4™ Microneedling pen work?
DP4™ is a small, hand-held device that delivers up to 1,920 micro-punctures per second, promoting new collagen and elastin growth leading to noticeable improvements in the skin’s appearance for a wide variety of conditions (hyperpigmentation, hypopigmentation, scarring, wrinkles, stretch marks and more).
DP4™ is the world's leading vertical needle technology. At ArtMed, we choose to use DP4™ for its precision, on-the-fly adjustability to optimize results and virtually pain-free treatment experience.
What about topicals post DP4™?
The added benefit of micro-needling is that the superficial micro-channels created by DP4™ facilitate the deep absorption of topically applied products immediately post treatment. Examples of topicals include hyaluronic acid, or Vitamin C serums. We’ll recommend a topical agent best suited to optimizing your results.
For a premium experience, patients can use PRP for use topically post micro-needling. PRP provides an immediate soothing effect, amplify treatments results and shorten recovery time.

The DermaGlow Protocol
DP4™ Microneedling + Chemical Peel
Treat Scars | Reduce Wrinkles | Improve Skin Tone and Overall Skin Quality
Microneedling is an excellent treatment to improve skin quality and texture.
To amplify results, a chemical peel can be applied post microneedling which increases absorption of the peel. Combining microneedling with a chemical peel is a medical level treatment protocol and a great option for treating scars, wrinkles, uneven skin tone and overall skin quality.
At ArtMed we use the industry leading DP4 DermaPen for microneedling and then a self-neutralizing chemical peel such as the Glow or Power Glow peel (hence DermaGlow). Skin is numbed with a prescription level anaesthetic cream prior to the procedure.
For more significant scars and fine lines a series of treatments is recommended approximately 4-6 weeks apart to optimize results. It is typical to experience some peeling and flaking in the week after treatment.
This cost-effective treatment is a great option for those looking for significant results at an affordable price and with limited downtime compared to resurfacing laser procedures.
